Community Matters

The preservation and expression of art, culture, rituals and traditions are only part of the overall well-being of any community.

The traditional arts make better sense as “living traditions” when they are activated in relation to other aspects of our lives — our health, jobs, education, recreation and human rights.

The quality of life of Oro Valley is as much a valid aspect of the Town’s “folklife” as are the music, dances, and stories of ancestors and foreign homelands. For this reason, and based on popular demand, both the Tucson Meet Yourself festival and now Oro Valley Meet Yourself always include a section where non-profit community service organizations, government service agencies and small, independent creative businesses can showcase their goods to the public and share information.

We call this section of the event “Community Matters.”
